How do I prevent  Exchange Server 2003 OWA from removing xml content from an attachment?
We work with Dataflux. Dataflux files are .dmc extension. The content is xml. I have removed 'text/xml,application/xml' from the Level 1 Mime types. I have also added '.dmc' to the known file types in the registry. Outlook Web Access continues to remove the content. I can view and save the attachments in Outlook without any issues. The problem is specific to OWA. Thank you for your time. Mike

Per my knowledge, the method you used before is affected on the outlook client, not OWA. Exchange detected that the file header is .xml while the extension is unknown, the content is stripped. This design is for security consideration Methods: · Zip the file and save it locally or put the xml on a place where it can be accessible for all · Use Hotfix 919884 to add the allowed extension. If there is FE/BE topology, the hotfix needs to be installed on the BE server Notes: In Exchange 2007, by default OWA still blocks files with .xml extensions. In order to get this fixed you can allow the .XML extensions on the OWA website from the EMC and this case be done using this linkJames Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com
